On Three-Dimensional Space Groups
A entirely new and independent enumeration of the crystallographic space groups is given, based on obtaining the groups as fibrations over the plane crystallographic groups, when this is possible. For the 35 “irreducible” groups for which it is not, an independent method is used that has the advantage of elucidating their subgroup relationships. Each space group is given a short “fibrifold name...
متن کاملThree-Dimensional Classical Groups Acting on Polytopes
Let V be a 3-dimensional vector space over a finite field. We show that any irreducible subgroup of GL(V ) that arises as the automorphism group of an abstract regular polytope preserves a nondegenerate symmetric bilinear form on V . In particular, the only classical groups on V that arise as automorphisms of such polytopes are the orthogonal groups.
متن کاملFUZZY HV -SUBSTRUCTURES IN A TWO DIMENSIONAL EUCLIDEAN VECTOR SPACE
In this paper, we study fuzzy substructures in connection withHv-structures. The original idea comes from geometry, especially from thetwo dimensional Euclidean vector space. Using parameters, we obtain a largenumber of hyperstructures of the group-like or ring-like types. We connect, also, the mentioned hyperstructures with the theta-operations to obtain morestrict hyperstructures, as Hv-groups...
متن کاملThree-Dimensional Simulations of Classical Novae
We present first results of three-dimensional (3D-) calculations of turbulent and degenerate hydrogen-burning on top of a C+O white dwarf of 1.0 M . The simulations are carried out by means of a code which solves Euler’s equation for an arbitrary equation of state together with a nuclear reaction network and the energy input from nuclear reactions on a Cartesian grid covering a fraction of the ...
متن کاملThree-dimensional strings I. Classical theory
I consider a three-dimensional string theory whose action, besides the standard area term, contains one of the form ∫ Σ ǫμνσX dX ∧ dX. In the case of closed strings this extra term has a simple geometrical interpretation as the volume enclosed by the surface. The associated variational problem yields as solutions constant mean curvature surfaces. One may then show the equivalence of this equati...
